Basic Weapons
These are weapons that have little special use and are mainly weapons we could see in our world today. There are an abnormally large number of the types of weapons ranging from simple swords to tomahawk.
Although SIU has also introduced some original items to the mix. Needles, wands, hooks and reels, lighthouses and inventories(that don't count as weapons and will be discussed in a later thread)
Needles
Needles are the most common weapons within the tower, needles are structured in such a way that makes them flexible and convenient to use. They simply are thin spikes that are used to pierce or stab opponents.
A reason for the creation of needles is that because of their streamlined nature they can easily thrust and pierce opponents with little shinsoo resistance.
A good example of a high leveled Needle is the Black March that is owned by Yuri Zahard. The strongest needle (assumed) is thought to be Enryu’s Needle, a weapon so massive and powerful that it was used to kill a floor guardian.
Hooks
A not so common weapon that is found in the tower is a hook. These weapons are generally used pull, stab and crush opponents. In co-op fights these hooks are very important as they can also play a huge role in constricting the enemy’s movements.
An example of a hook is the one used by Anak, the Green April is a strong hook but its capability to extend its reach should not be confused with normal hooks, because normal hooks are of fixed lengths.
Reels
A Reel is a spool (a cylinder) used for winding a long and flexible line which has been fed through the Reel and it can, in turn, allow the Fisherman to adjust the "reach" of the line. The Reel Inventory is used for storing it.
A Reel can be manipulated with Shinsoo to rewind or unwind the Reel and to control the length and direction of the line. The line of a Reel is used to tie and throw weapons such as Needles and Hooks. The line is probably considered as part of the Reel, so a Reel is the main weapon used by Fishermen.
Wands
Wands are items capable of collecting a certain amount of shinsoo. Also they can be used by the wielder to help focus or manipulate their shinsoo. Wave controllers are quite and rare and thus high ranking wands are even rarer. Wands don’t necessarily have to look like wands; they can come in any shape.
Unlike other weapons that can be used on any floor at any time, to use a wand the wielder must make a contract with the floor guardian. This contract also limits the amount of shinsoo that can be stored and manipulated.
Weapon Categorization
Though Tower of God could possible have any conceivable weapon, ToG has a distinct way of separating them, granted it's not the smartest or the most useful way it still adds some meaning to the tower and how it was before and after Zahard entered. Well, you may have some idea of it after seeing some of the weapons SIU added, such as the hooks, reels and needles. They are all primarily for hunting the Shinheuh or the aquatic life in the tower.
After Zahard's entry though there came the other more cliche items, such as swords, bows and well... guns even. This categorization has no particular usefulness, because at the end of the day you could just as easily use a sword or axe to kill an aquatic life form but it does create some interest to how the tower was before Zahard and the origin of Zahard and all the weapons he brought to the tower.
Rankings
The only main difference between weapons in ToG and weapons in any other fictional world is… well each of these weapons are given a rank and a corresponding number to represent their state compared to weapons of the same rank.
For example between a fight of two swordsmen both of them may have B-Ranked swords, but one of them could have a 9B sword and the other a 3B sword, in this case the one with the 9B sword has the clear advantage in terms of fighting power.
Though until now SIU hasn’t made any such distinctions probably to maintain simplicity and also because the higher ranked weapons, S+ and SS+ ranked have only a handful of weapons in existence.
So here’s how the ranking goes.
SS+ > S+ > 1S-10S > 1A-10A > 1B-10B > 1C-10C > 1D-10D > 1E-10E > 1F-10F
Though it is interesting to note that similar rankings are used in other places such as to rank a regular or ranker in terms of their overall capabilities.
Until now SIU hasn’t mentioned how these weapons are ranked or any criteria for their ranking, or even more important who gets to rank them.
Ignition
Ignition weapons are some of the most powerful weapons within the towers. These weapons are created using a special kind of shinsoo, that when activated gives the weapon increased speed, power, just think of a temporary stat boost... Another important thing to note is that certain ignition weapons have souls, like the incident where Baam ignited Black March and it held the soul of a girl who seemed to have a thing for him()
A special kind of ignition weapon is the compression weapon. These are weapons that in their normal state look like any other basic weapon but when ignited gives them an abnormal increase in their weapon rank. A very good example of a compression weapon, is Koon Eduan’s 'Mago' that when ignited is said to be huge enough to, “Pierce half the tower.”
Another much rarer variation of ignition weapons are the living ignition weapons. This is when an ignition weapon is inserted within living beings. There are only a very few of them in the tower, Horyang, Cassano, Beta and Emile are the only ones of yet that are said to be living ignition weapons.
The 13 Month Series
The Thirteen Month Series consists of an Arms Inventory and 12 sentient weapons made by a crafts master, Ashul Edwaru. They are bestowed by the King Zahard to a formal Princess. In fact, the symbolic significance of the 13 Month Series is greater than any other weapon in the Tower.
The Rainbow Undecimber is the only exception from the 13 Month Series as it is an Arms Inventory, instead of being a weapon.
The 12 sentient weapons are like half-beings and have human forms sealed within. When ignited by the user, these forms will be unsealed and unleash the extreme powers of the weapon. Only a formal Princess is supposed to be able to ignite a 13 Month Series, though exceptions like Anak Zahard or Baam have proven this to be untrue.
No matter how skilled the Princess is, she cannot force a 13 Month Series to Ignite. Depending on the weapon's personality, it may refuse to listen to its owner. For example: the Black March will only activate for "good looking men" and it won't listen to anyone else. Baam managed to Ignite it, while despite her ranking being around 500th, Yuri Zahard was unable to ignite the Black March.
These weapons also vary in shape and function. For instance, one is a Needle and another a Hook. Out of these weapons, only the Gold November is of S-rank.
